1月20・21日の映画動員ランキング（興行通信社調べ）は、『300スリーハンドレッド』のジェラルド・バトラーが主演する『ジオストーム』が、土日2日間で動員17万1000人、興収2億4200万円をあげ、初登場1位を飾った。
初日からの3日間累計興収は3億円を突破した。全世界の天候を制御する気象コントロール衛星の暴走で地球規模の異常気象が起こる中、この未曽有の危機に立ち向かう人々を描く。
ディーン・デヴリン監督をはじめ、映画『インデペンデンス・デイ』のチームが迫力あるパニック映像を繰り出し、エド・ハリスやアンディ・ガルシアなど往年のハリウッド・スターも配したエンタメ大作。洋画ファンだけでなく、普段洋画を見る機会の少ない10代?20代の若者層にも支持が広がっているようだ。
長澤まさみと高橋一生が共演する『嘘を愛する女』は、土日2日間で動員11万7000人、興収1億6000万円をあげ2位でスタートを切った。新たな才能の発掘を目指しオリジナルの映画企画を募集する「TSUTAYA CREATORS’ PROGRAM」の第1回グランプリ受賞企画を、企画者でもある中江和仁氏が自ら脚本、監督を務め映画化。恋人の嘘に翻弄されていく一流企業のキャリアウーマンを長澤、謎に包まれた恋人を高橋が演じ、DAIGO、川栄李奈、黒木瞳、吉田鋼太郎らが脇を固める。
『パディントン2』は、土日2日間で動員9万3000人、興収1億1700万円をあげ初登場4位にランクイン。世界40カ国以上で翻訳され読み継がれているイギリスの児童文学「パディントン」シリーズの実写映画化第2弾。出演はベン・ウィショー（声の出演）､ヒュー・グラント､ブレンダン・グリーソン、監督は1作目に続いてポール・キング氏。日本語吹替版には、松坂桃李､古田新太､三戸なつめ､斎藤工らが参加している。
新作の登場で、連続1位記録を伸ばすことができなかった『スター・ウォーズ／最後のジェダイ』は3位にランクイン。土日2日間で動員9万5000人、興収1億4100万円をあげた。累計興収は68億円を突破し、歴代興収ランキング88位まで記録を伸ばしてきている。
既存作品の累計興収は、5位の『キングスマン：ゴールデン・サークル』(FOX)は12億円、6位の『8年越しの花嫁 奇跡の実話』は24億円、7位の『DESTINY 鎌倉ものがたり』は28億円、8位の『映画 妖怪ウォッチ シャドウサイド 鬼王の復活』は19億円を突破した。

パディントンは原作が子供の頃大好きだったから
夢が壊れたらと思うとなんだか映画見るの躊躇われる
今読み返したらそうでもないのかもしれないけど
子供心にとにかく死ぬほど笑いまくったしパディントンがいい奴過ぎで愛らしかったんだよなあ
でも前作もそうだけどビジュアルはしっかり再現してあるっぽいよな

この映画は実は映像のスペクタクルと同等にシークレットサービスの嫁無双が最大の見処
ちょっとした問題を排除するシーンとか凄かった
