Netflixは、月額790円の低価格な新プラン「広告つきベーシック」を発表。国内では11月4日午前1時から提供開始する。

1時間あたり平均4～5分、1つの広告につき15秒または30秒の広告が、作品の再生前と再生中に流れる新プラン。現行のベーシックプラン(月990円/最大480p)から月額料金を200円安く抑えつつ、画質は最大720pのHD画質まで引き上げた。

広告つきベーシックは、ライセンスの関係で一部の映画やドラマに視聴制限がかかる。また、ダウンロード機能は省いている。モバイルゲームはこれまでどおり無制限で楽しめるという。米国と日本のほか、カナダ・メキシコ・オーストラリア・ブラジル・フランス・ドイツ・イタリア・韓国・イギリス・スペインの計12カ国で11月から順次提供開始する。

なお、既存のベーシックの画質については、広告つきベーシックの登場に合わせて11月から最大720pのHD画質に引き上げる。
