ウーピー・ゴールドバーグ主演のミュージックコメディー『天使にラブ・ソングを…』第3弾の制作が決定したと、Varietyほか各メディアが報じた。
『天使にラブ・ソングを…』（1992）は、殺人事件を目撃して修道院でかくまわれることになったクラブ歌手（ウーピー）が、退屈な聖歌を見事なパフォーマンスに改造し、音楽を通じてお堅いシスターたちと友情を育んでくさまを描いたコメディー。公開翌年には続編『天使にラブ・ソングを2』が製作され、ブロードウェイミュージカル化もされた。
今回のシリーズ3作目は、ディズニーがスタートするストリーミングサービス「Disney+（ディズニー+）」向けの作品となる。同作をめぐっては、数年前からリメイク企画が報じられていたが、正式に続編となることが決まったようだ。
脚本は、海外ドラマ「インセキュア」で製作総指揮を務めるレジーナ・ヒックスと、「STAR 夢の代償」でショウランナーを務めるカリン・ジストが執筆する。物語をはじめ詳細は明らかになっていない。シリーズファンとしては、ウーピー自身が出演するかが気になるところだが、そちらも未定。
9月にイギリスの朝の情報番組「Good Morning Britain」に出演した時点でウーピーは、新作について「『天使にラブ・ソングを3』にはならない。全く新しいバージョンになるのよ」と語る一方、「わたしはカメオ出演することになると思う」と明かしている。
ディズニーは、「Disney+（ディズニー+）」で『スター・ウォーズ』の実写ドラマシリーズやアニメシリーズ、実写版『わんわん物語』、アニメ『モンスターズ・インク』のテレビシリーズなども配信予定。自社のストリーミングサービス開始に向け強力なラインナップをそろえている。（編集部・入倉功一）

よく考えたら1も他愛ない話だった
3なんか作ってどうするんだ
