［ロサンゼルス 9日 ロイター］ – 人気SF映画シリーズ『スター・ウォーズ』の初期の作品で使用された、悪役ダース・ベイダーのマスクとヘルメットのセットが、ロサンゼルスで今月開かれるオークションに出品される。
オークションは競売会社プロファイルズ・イン・ヒストリーが9月25−26日に行い、他にも『オズの魔法使』『エイリアン』『キングコング』などのハリウッド作品に関連したアイテム940点が出品される。
ダース・ベイダーのマスクとヘルメットのセットは『スター・ウォーズ／帝国の逆襲』（1980）で使用されたもので、25万−45万ドル（約2,680万−4,830万円）の値が付くと予想されている。プロファイルズ・イン・ヒストリーの担当者は「初期の3部作からのアイテムは、今では見つけるのが非常に難しい」と語った。
このほか、映画『ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石』（2001）で主人公を演じたダニエル・ラドクリフが着用した特徴的な眼鏡も出品され、予想落札価格は約3万ドル。映画『タイタニック』（1997）でレオナルド・ディカプリオとケイト・ウィンスレットが着たコスチュームも競売に掛けられる。
