2018年に異例の大ヒットを記録した映画『カメラを止めるな！』の上田慎一郎監督とキャストが再集結し、短編映画『カメラを止めるな！ リモート大作戦！』が緊急制作されることが決定した。スタッフとキャストが一度も会わずに、完全リモートで完成させる作品となる。
世界中の人々が外出自粛を余儀無くされているなか、上田監督の「明るいエンタメを届けたい」「こんな状況でも作品や仕事がつくれることを示したい」という強い思いから本企画がスタート。ビデオ通話の画面や、キャストがスマートフォンで自撮りで撮影した映像を、上田監督が受け取って編集を行う。作品は制作中で、4月末〜5月頭の完成を目指しており、完成次第すぐYouTubeにて無料配信予定だ。
本作の舞台は、新型ウイルスの感染拡大で外出自粛を余儀なくされている日本。自宅待機中の映像ディレクター・日暮（濱津隆之）の元に、笹原（どんぐり）、古沢（大沢真一郎）の両プロデューサーから「今月中に再現ドラマを1本作って欲しい」という無茶ぶりのビデオ電話がかかってくる。「家から出れないこの状況で撮影はできませんよ」と渋る日暮に、笹原は「スタッフキャスト全員、自宅から一歩も出ず、一度も会わず、完全リモートで作ります」と返す。そして、完全リモートでの映像制作が始まる。
また、本作の未公開映像、監督・キャストからのメッセージ動画が、4月13日にスタートとなるクラウドファンディング「ミニシアター・エイド基金」内の特典として提供される。さらに、本作には、一般の方がリモートで参加できるシーンも用意されるといい、詳細や参加の方法については近日中に公式Twitterで発表となる。

カメ止めの後2本映画撮った（片方は短編集）けどどっちも大コケしたよね
映画の存在自体知られず即打ち切られたからコケた事すら気付かれないレベル
