トム・クルーズが宇宙での映画制作企画を進めていると、The Playlistなどが報じた。
アクション映画「ミッション：インポッシブル」シリーズで、飛行中の航空機の外でのアクションやヘリからぶら下げられたロープでのスタントを披露し、成層圏ギリギリの上空7620mから急下降する“HALOジャンプ”にも挑んだクルーズ。
現在彼は、宇宙関連企業スペースX社のCEOであるイーロン・マスクとチームを組み、宇宙でのアクション映画制作プロジェクトを企画している。NASA長官のジム・ブライデンスタインは自身のTwitterで「NASAは、トム・クルーズとともに国際宇宙ステーション（ISS）で映画を作れることにとても興奮しています。
我々には、新世代のエンジニアや科学者を激励する新しいポピュラーメディアが必要なのです。NASAの野心的な計画を実現させるために」と発言し、NASAが本作に携わっていることを認めた。
この新作映画のタイトルやプロットは現在明かされていないが、「ミッション：インポッシブル」シリーズとは別の作品になると見られている。
なおクルーズ主演の「トップガン マーヴェリック」は近日公開。また5月9日の21時からは、「ミッション：インポッシブル／ローグ・ネイション」がフジテレビの「土曜プレミアム」で本編ノーカット放送される。

これだけ主演作が楽しみなスター俳優兼製作者ってなかなかいない。
クリントイーストウッドみたいに引退してするする詐欺的に延々と映画を作って欲しいから、体張ってナンボ路線はそろそろ終わりでもいい。
