Netflixは、米国の会員向けにスタンダードプラン・プレミアムプランの価格を改定することを発表した。スタンダードプランは12.99ドルから13.99ドルへ、プレミアムプランは15.99ドルから17.99ドルへの値上げとなる。なお、ベーシックプランの価格は8.99ドルのままで変更はない。
2020年10月29日（米国時間）をもって価格改定は行われており、米国の新規会員は新価格での契約となる。既存の会員に対しては、各々の支払いサイクルに応じ、今後数週間にわたってメールやアプリを通じて新価格が通知されるとのこと。Netflixは価格を国ごとに決定しているため、広報担当者は「米国の価格改定は、世界の価格に影響するもの、また世界規模の価格改定を意味するものではありません」とのコメントを発表している。
米国での価格改定にあたり、Netflixは「エンターテインメントの選択肢が従来より増えている今、会員の皆様によりよい体験をお届けすることに尽力いたします。価格を改定することで、よりバラエティに富んだテレビ番組や映画を提供しつづけることができます」との声明を発表。なお、10月21日には2020年第3四半期（7〜9月）の決算が発表され、有料会員数が全世界で1億9,500万人を達成、今期の新規有料会員数が220万人増加したことが明かされていた。ただし、一方で「昨対比で成長は鈍化した」とも告知されており、こうした状況や社会情勢が影響を与えた可能性は十分考えられる。
なお日本におけるNetflixの価格は、ベーシックプランが800円、スタンダードプランが1,200円、プレミアムプランが1,800円。
