1970〜80年代に一世を風靡し、ディスコブームを巻き起こした「サタデー・ナイト・フィーバー」と「フラッシュダンス」の4Kデジタルリマスター版が、4月に新宿ピカデリーほか全国で連続公開されることが明らかになり、日本版キービジュアルがお披露目された。
77年12月14日に全米公開された「サタデー・ナイト・フィーバー」（ジョン・バダム監督）は、ジョン・トラボルタの出世作として知られている。いまも現役を続ける「ビージーズ」の「スティン・アライブ」「恋のナイト・フィーバー」など、ディスコミュージックがふんだんに流れ、一大センセーションを巻き起こした。
日本では78年7月22日に封切られ、配給収入19億2000万円の大ヒットを記録。今作の影響で、ディスコダンスで踊り熱狂することを指す「フィーバーする」という和製英語が生まれたことも記憶に新しい。なお日本公開日は、「ディスコの日」とされている。
ニューヨーク・ブルックリンのペンキ屋で働く青年トニーは、変化のない日常にうんざりしていた。唯一の楽しみは、土曜の夜に着飾って街へ繰り出し、ディスコで踊り明かすこと。ある日、いつものようにディスコを訪れると、新顔の魅力的な女性ステファニーと出会う。素晴らしいダンスを踊るステファニーに惹かれたトニーは、彼女の自立した生き方に刺激され、自身を見つめ直していく。彼女と新しい人生を始めるため、優勝賞金500ドルのダンスコンテストへの出場を決意するトニーだったが……。
一方、83年4月15日に全米公開された「フラッシュダンス」は、ドン・シンプソンとジェリー・ブラッカイマーの初タッグ作でもある。4000人以上が参加したオーディションを勝ち抜いたジェニファー・ビールスを、一躍スターダムに押し上げた。当初は評論家筋から芳しい評価を得られなかったが、83年の全米興行で3位となる大ヒットとなり、世界累計興収は1億ドルを突破した。
アイリーン・キャラの歌う主題歌「フラッシュダンス…ホワット・ア・フィーリング」も、アカデミー賞で歌曲賞に輝くなど、世界的な大ヒットを記録した。日本でも配給収入32億8000万円を記録したが、この主題歌は麻倉未稀がテレビドラマ「スチュワーデス物語」の主題歌として日本語でカバーしたことはあまりにも有名だ。
エイドリアン・ライン監督（「ナインハーフ」「危険な情事」）が手がけた同作は、ペンシルベニア州の工業都市ピッツバーグが舞台。プロのダンサーを目指す19歳のアレックスは、昼は製鉄所の溶接工、夜はクラブのダンサーとして働きながら、ダンスの練習に励む日々を送っていた。ある日、彼女はピッツバーグ・ダンス・アンド・レパートリー・カンパニーのオーディションを申し込みに行くが、他の応募者は皆バレエの経験があることを知り、すっかり自信を失ってしまう。そんな折、彼女は製鉄所の社長ニックと急接近するが……。

概要
音楽と映画を融合した本作は60年代ディスコブームの再燃を到来させ、劇中に挿入されたビージーズ（BEE GEES）のディスコ・サウンドによるフィーバー現象は、現在のダンス・ミュージックへつながる。映画を製作したRSOはその年の総売上は3兆5000億円と公表した。

でも、上映時は、サントラ盤すら国内では作られないほど無視されていた。
しかも、これをいま上映したら、日本のラッパーは声量もリズム感もないヘッポコとばれて、全滅する。
フットルースもいい映画。
でも、あの映画の独特の田舎臭さ（いい意味でのメリケン臭さ）がうけないかも。
