女優でアーティストの池田エライザ（２６）が、ＷＯＷＯＷの連続ドラマ「ＤＯＲＯＮＪＯ／ドロンジョ」（今秋放送・配信スタート＝初回は無料放送）に主演することが１７日、分かった。
「タイムボカン」シリーズなどを生んだ「タツノコプロ」創立６０周年記念作で、「ヤッターマン」に登場する悪役「ドロンボー一味」のリーダーにスポットを当てたストーリー。ドロンジョといえば仮面にマント、レオタード風のコスチュームに身を包み、お色気とキュートさを併せ持つ悪役ながら屈指の人気を誇るキャラクターで、２００９年の映画「ヤッターマン」では女優の深田恭子（３９）の熱演でも話題を呼んだ。今作では、なぜドロンジョが悪の道を選んだのかが描かれる。
池田が演じるのは、のちにドロンジョと呼ばれることになる主人公の泥川七音（どろかわ・なお）。貧しく過酷な環境で生まれ、勝負の世界に身を投じていく役どころで、池田は「戦いの場に上がる時も、絶望の淵に立たされた時でさえも、心の中で轟轟（ごうごう）と燃える七音の闘心はきっと誰かに希望を与えてくれると思います」と振り返る。「本能剥（む）き出しで明日に向かって足掻（あが）いていくこのキャラクターを演じることができてとても幸せでした」と言葉に力を込めた。
このほど公開されたビジュアルでは、戦闘服のようなコスチュームに左足は義足という、一見すると「これがドロンジョ？」と首をかしげてしまうビジュアル。ストーリーが進むにつれてヤッターマンやドロンボー一味は登場するのか、誰もが知るドロンジョ姿の披露はあるのかにも期待が高まる。
