【ローマAFP時事】米アカデミー賞を受賞した「クラッシュ」などの映画作品で知られるカナダ人のポール・ハギス監督（69）が、若い女性に対する性的暴行などの疑いで滞在先のイタリア南部で逮捕されたことが明らかになった。

　伊ANSA通信などが19日、地元検察当局の話として伝えた。

　報道によれば、ハギス容疑者は弁護士を通じて「私は完全に潔白だ」と容疑を否定した。ハギス容疑者は、伊南部オストゥーニで21日に開幕する映画祭への参加を予定していた。検察当局によると、被害女性は容疑者としばらく前に知り合い、現地で一緒に滞在していたという。

『炎のテキサス・レンジャー』や『騎馬警官』、『L.A.ロー』などのテレビシリーズの監督・脚本・プロデュースを手がけ、エミー賞を受賞するなど高い評価を得る。映画脚本としては初めての『ミリオンダラー・ベイビー』でアカデミー賞にノミネートされ、作品賞を受賞。翌年には自身が監督、脚本、製作した『クラッシュ』で作品賞と脚本賞を受賞した。
