マーゴット・ロビー主演で進められていた女性版の『パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン』が、ボツになったことがわかった。

マーゴット・ロビーがVanity Fairのインタビューで明かしたもの。「私たちにはアイデアがあって、何年も前から企画していました。女性により焦点を当てた物語で、完全に女性が主役というわけではありませんが、これまでとは少し異なるストーリーでした。すごくクールな作品になると思っていましたが、どうやら彼ら（ディズニー）はやりたくなかったみたいです」とコメントした。

Varietyによると、マーゴットが主演する女性版『パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン』の企画が明らかになったのは、2020年夏。これまでシリーズを手掛けてきたジェリー・ブラッカイマーが参加し、『ハーレイ・クインの華麗なる覚醒 BIRDS OF PREY』のクリスティーナ・ホドソンが脚本を担当すると発表された。

『パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン』シリーズは、ディズニーランドのアトラクションを元に、ジョニー・デップ主演で映画化したアドベンチャー映画シリーズ。全5作公開され、全世界で約30億7000万ドルの興行収入を記録した。
