1979年に公開された『エイリアン』シリーズの原点を描く映画、『エイリアン：コヴェナント』の公開日が9月15日（金）に決定。あわせて日本版ポスターが公開された。リドリー・スコット監督が“特別に許可した”ビジュアルでは、ついにエイリアンの姿が明らかにされている。
“絶望の、産声。”というキャッチコピーとともに、胎児のようなエイリアンの姿が捉えられている日本版ポスター。スコット監督は「いつまでもモンスターに廊下を追いかけられるシーンを続けることはできない。退屈してしまうからね」と話しており、「こいつを作ったのが誰で、どうして作ったのか、今まで、誰も疑問に思わなかったことに私は気がついた。宇宙のかなたから来たモンスターとか、宇宙の果てから来た神、宇宙のエンジニアがこいつを作り出したと言っても良かったかもしれない。でも、誰もそうしなかった。『エイリアン：コヴェナント』は、そういった考えを方向転換させる」とストーリーの一部も明かしている。
エイリアンの姿だけでなく、女性主人公ダニエルズがタンクトップ姿で銃を構える姿も。スコット監督も絶賛の本ビジュアルは、日本を皮切りに世界各国の雑誌の表紙や、オンライン上で掲載されていく予定だ。
本作は、『エイリアン』の生みの親であり、監督を務めたスコットが、38年の時を経て再びメガホンを執ったSF・スリラー。滅び行く地球から脱出した宇宙船コヴェナント号の乗組員は、人類移住計画を託された最後の希望であった。彼らは、未知の楽園を発見し、そこは人類にとって楽園となるはずだったが……。
