　『機動警察パトレイバー』『攻殻機動隊』などで知られる映画監督の押井守氏が7日、都内で行われた『ILC（国際リニアコライダー）Supporters』活動報告会に出席。「『濃い作品はいいから、商品をいっぱい作ってくれ』と言われた」と、アニメ業界の現状に危機感を示した

　科学と日本の未来、のトークテーマにちなみアニメ業界に言及した押井氏。「アニメーションは一時期、バンバン作ってきたけど、今のアニメ業界は知恵を払っちゃった。これ以下は無いだろうと落ち込んでいる」と業界の凋落を指摘した。

　「何が原因かというと人がいない。人手不足。ものすごく労働を集約してとことん現場を絞った、そういう労働に耐える人間がいなくなっちゃった。低カロリーなスカスカしたものをバンバン作っちゃうぞみたいな。『濃い作品はいいから、商品をいっぱい作ってくれ。作品はいらないから、商品を作ってくれ』と言われたこともある。ふざけんな！　と思うんだけど、割と今そうなっている」と自身のエピソードを交えながら説明した。

　“作品と商品”の違いについて「物を作っている中で、僕らは子どもや若い人に向けて、アニメを観ている時だけは自分がこうなったらいいみたいな、夢のキャラクターを作るのがこの仕事だと言っていた。ただし、ひとつだけ哲学を入れろと。つまり、これが（哲学が）ないとただの商品」と力を込める。

　これを聞いた、アニメーションプロデューサーの竹内宏彰氏も「クールジャパンとして、日本のアニメや漫画、ゲームが世界で騒がれている。世界に広がり『受ける』というのが悪いことではないが、『すぐに認められて、すぐに売れる物を作れ』というオーダーが高まっている」と同調した。

　最後に押井氏は「アニメスタジオについて言えば、でかくなってから入ってきた子たちは入ってきたことで終わっちゃう。入れたことでおしまい。サッカーだとバイエルンミュンヘンに入ったことが終わりじゃない、そこから始まるんだぞと。（Production）I.Gに入ったからって自分の未来が決まったり、開けたわけじゃない」と訴え「アニメスタジオは継承されるわけじゃない。ジブリがそうだったように、20年間くらいで淘汰（とうた）されるもの。それでいいと思っている。何が大事かというと、そのサイクルの中にどれだけの人間を世の中に出したかということです」と語った。
